DK, known to some as Lee Seokmin but to many as the human equivalent of sunshine with a microphone, was born in 1997, in the charmingly specific locale of Suji-gu, Yongin, South Korea. As a child, he harbored a simple yet profoundly ambitious dream: to sing so well that people would forget their troubles—or at least stop worrying about whether they’d left the oven on. His journey to becoming Seventeen’s main vocalist began with friends casually suggesting he audition, likely unaware they were unleashing a vocal powerhouse with a knack for making happiness contagious.
