Gone with the Wind is a famous novel by American writer Margaret Mitchell (1936) and also a film from 1939. This is a story about a girl Scarlett O'Hara, which takes place during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Scarlett is the daughter of a plantation owner in Georgia. She is an ordinary beautiful and sometimes selfish girl who thinks only about love affairs and at first this war only irritates her. But as the military actions develop, she begins to experience all the troubles of war - the death of friends, hunger, poverty. Her plantation is ruined, the family loses wealth. Scarlett is forced to fight for survival, escape across the front line and takes care of the house. After the war, life does not become easier either. She remarries to protect her family.
