Hypatia is one of the most famous female scientists of antiquity. She lived in Ancient Rome (or, more precisely, in Egypt, which was part of the Roman Empire). She studied mathematics and astronomy - improved the astrolabe - a device for measuring the movement of celestial bodies (it is depicted on the coloring page). An excellent film, Agora (2009), was created about Hypatia. It shows how Hypatia taught students physics and astronomy and then interreligious clashes between pagans and Christians began. And in the end, the victorious Christians executed Hypatia, who did not want to renounce her "witchcraft" sciences.
