Joshua, officially known as Joshua Hong and unofficially as the embodiment of calm amidst Seventeen’s energetic whirlwind, was born in 1995, in Los Angeles, California—a city known for dreams, sunshine and traffic jams. Raised in a Korean-American household, he discovered early on that life is infinitely better with a guitar in hand and a choir to sing with. Armed with this musical inclination and a passport, he embarked on the improbable journey to South Korea to chase the idea that one could sing for a living and still maintain impeccable manners. Fluent in both English and Korean, Joshua’s existence is a testament to the notion that hard work, humility and a soft voice can connect you to the world—even if your first step toward stardom involves singing for your church congregation and wondering how you got here.
