Who are Tiana and Tarzan?
Tiana is the girl in Disney's animated film The Princess and the Frog, a tale of ambition, gumbo and amphibious romance set in the vibrant, jazz-soaked streets of New Orleans. A gifted cook with a work ethic so intense it could probably power the French Quarter, Tiana dreams of opening her own restaurant, a goal that seems just within reach until fate (and a particularly chatty frog) intervenes. In a moment of desperation, she kisses Prince Naveen, who has been turned into a frog by an evil voodoo witch doctor, only to find herself joining him in his amphibian predicament. What follows is an adventure through the bayou filled with singing alligators, fireflies with romantic delusions and enough magic to make even the most skeptical princess reconsider her stance on fairy tales. Loosely based on The Frog Prince and representing the best of Disney’s traditionally-animated magic, Tiana proves that sometimes dreams require a little detour through the swamp.
Tarzan is the main hero of Disney's animated film of the same name, though "hero" doesn’t quite capture the full grandeur of a man who swings through trees like gravity owes him a favor. Commonly known as the Ape Man, Tarzan was orphaned in the jungle after his parents fell victim to the fearsome Sabor and was subsequently raised by a colony of apes with parenting skills that would put most human manuals to shame. With the help of his mischievous gorilla friend Terk and a neurotic yet lovable elephant named Tantor, Tarzan grows into the ultimate jungle protector, blending raw strength with an honorable spirit that even rival species begrudgingly admire. Despite never encountering the outside world, Tarzan navigates danger, loyalty and the occasional existential crisis with bravery and heart, proving that family isn’t about where you come from—it’s about who you’re willing to save, even if they happen to be your enemies.
