Michael Carrick is a Manchester United legend and now the head coach. He was born in 1981 and started to play football at the age of four. He played with Wallsend Boys on Saturday evenings thanks to his father's volunteer work at the club. At 15 he was selected for the England youth team. Interestingly, during these school years, he played as a center forward. At 16 he began his career at West Ham United, joining the youth team and playing as a midfielder. He played a key role for the club for two seasons before being sold to Manchester United in 2006 for £14 million.
Carrick played for 12 years at Manchester United and captained the team in his final years. He was a defensive midfielder, but was also used as a reserve center back under Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. As we remember, he made excellent, accurate passes and was like a Cadillac on the field.
