Nowadays, even children can draw beautiful pictures using neural networks, simply by describing what they want to see. So Midjourney was the first such neural network. It appeared back in 2022 and still remains one of the most popular, despite not being backed by a large company. It's free, but it primarily works through a public Discord chat, so first you need to register, second - everyone will see your requests and generated images. For each request, it generates four image variants, allowing you to choose the one you like best and, if necessary, ask to improve and modify it. Midjourney is particularly good at creating realistic images, anime, illustrations and futuristic subjects. It's often used by artists, designers and marketers for inspiration or to create elements of larger images.

This got me thinking about why AI models like Midjourney struggle with creating basic coloring pages. They’re designed to generate highly detailed, often intricate images, which is great for a lot of creative projects. But when it comes to coloring pages, simplicity is key. You need clean lines, clear shapes, and areas that are easy to fill in with color. AI, on the other hand, seems to want to add all these extra details and textures, making the final product more like an art piece than something you can just relax and color in.
It’s kind of ironic when you think about it. These advanced models can create photorealistic images, abstract art, and everything in between, but they can’t quite nail down something as straightforward as a coloring page. I guess it shows that sometimes, less really is more—especially when it comes to something as simple and nostalgic as a good old-fashioned coloring book. Maybe one day, AI will get it right, but for now, it’s a funny reminder that even the most advanced technology has its limits!
