Momo, a dazzlingly energetic being born in 1996, in the picturesque charm of Kyoto, Japan, started dancing at the age of 3, presumably before she’d even figured out how gravity worked. Inspired by dance videos and familial enthusiasm, she twirled her way into a lifelong passion, eventually landing at a Japanese dance academy where she perfected her craft with the precision of someone assembling a flat-pack galaxy. Spotted by JYP Entertainment, she relocated to South Korea, trained for over three years and debuted with TWICE in 2015, earning the title of “dancing machine” because “unstoppable whirlwind of rhythm” seemed too long. Momo now inspires kids with her relentless dedication, infectious fun and the reassuring knowledge that loving your work—and maybe some jokbal—can make the universe seem like a much better place.
