Mortal Engines is a book by Philip Reeve (and movie) about a future after a nuclear war, in which only a few cities have survived and in order to survive, people have made these cities mobile. They travel around Europe in search of resources and even large cities capture small ones for resources. The main character of the book, young historian Tom, lives in London and accidentally meets Hester, a girl from a captured small town. She tries to kill the city's governor, Valentine and because of this, both are thrown out of London and are forced to survive together in a desert full of head hunters, encountering the cyborg hunter Shrike and the resistance pilot Anna Fang (shown in the coloring book with Hester). Meanwhile, Valentine has restored the ancient superweapon MEDUSA to break through the "Wall Shield" and subjugate the continent. Tom and Hester are trying to stop the attack and expose Valentine, making a choice between revenge and saving people.
