Pippi Longstocking is a children's book by Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren, written in 1945. The main character is a girl named Pippi (who is only 9 years old). In the beginning she arrives alone at her home, called Villa "Hen" on a horse and with a monkey named Mr. Nilsson (like on the coloring page). Her father is a sea captain who was carried away to sea and Pippi is sure that he has become a king on a distant island. She meets the neighboring children Tommy and Annika, who often come to visit her and get into funny and unusual adventures. For example, once they went to the circus. There, Pippi went into the arena without an invitation, jumped over horses, fought with a strongman and eventually became the star of the evening.
