Robin Hood is the hero of medieval English folk ballads, a noble leader of forest robbers. According to legend, he operated with his gang in Sherwood Forest near Nottingham in the late 12th century, robbing the rich and giving their spoils to the poor. Robin was an outstanding archer - he could hit the center of a target from a hundred meters away. At the time, King Richard the Lionheart of England was participating in the Crusades and Prince John with the Sheriff ruled in his stead, mercilessly taking land and the last possessions from the poor. Robin Hood, along with his friends Little John, Friar Tuck and others, rose to their defense. In the Disney classic, Robin Hood is a clever fox and all other characters in the film are also animals with fun costumes and funny voices. Robin Hood's best friend Little John is a bear, Friar Tuck is a funny, friendly badger who loves to eat and help out. Prince John is a sneaky lion and Maid Marian (Robin's sweetheart) is a graceful vixen.
