The ocean waves are like nature’s batteries, constantly recharging themselves. Special machines (called wave energy converters) turn these waves into electricity. They can float on the surface or work underwater. Unlike solar and wind stations (that depend on sun and wind), wave energy stations can work day and night. But it’s harder to build wave energy converters than wind turbines or solar panels.
Wave energy is considered to be clean because it doesn’t make pollution like fossil fuels and it doesn’t harm ocean animals (if done carefully). Imagine if you live on a small island. Wave energy could be the only way for you to make electricity. Learning about wave energy can inspire kids to think of new ways to help the planet.
