Wonwoo, officially Jeon Wonwoo and unofficially the philosopher-poet of Seventeen, was born in 1996, in the tranquil city of Changwon, South Korea, a place ideal for contemplating the mysteries of existence—or at least where to find a good book. As a child, he spent his time reading and gaming, two pursuits that quietly prepared him for the strategic thinking and lyrical depth that would later define his career. After deciding music was a slightly more exciting calling than professional gaming, he joined Pledis Entertainment, eventually debuting as the deep-voiced, reflective rapper of Seventeen’s hip-hop team.
