Yoohyeon, whose full name is Kim Yoohyeon (a name that sounds oddly like it could command an intergalactic starship), emerged into existence in 1997, in the city of Incheon, South Korea—a place perfectly positioned to nurture dreams of stardom or possibly open an interdimensional portal. As a child, she was one part music enthusiast, one part daydreamer and three parts determined, traits which—combined with years of rigorous K-pop training—propelled her into Dreamcatcher, a group that sounds like it might hunt down nightmares for a living. With a voice as sweet as a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster (but infinitely less deadly), a penchant for video games and an alarming ability to self-teach English, Yoohyeon somehow balances stardom, fandom and occasional guitar strumming with the sort of charm that could inspire an entire planet to quit their jobs and start chasing dreams, however improbable or ridiculous they may be.
